5 Quick Tips to Look Good in Photos

This month in the community has been so much fun!

We've been learning all about what to wear, what makeup to use and how to pose for photos - from selfies and group shots to professional photoshoots.

It's been a highly-requested topic from you guys for a while now, but I've been putting it off each month because it's something that I personally don't feel much of an expert about.

But when it came up again by two members I decided to just suck it up and deliver! And I wanted to thank you guys as I've learned so much just through researching this topic, so it's helped me grow too as a style coach and as a person.

Anyway, here are just five of the many tips I've given over the month...

1. Wear your best pop colour.

Picture
This one's particularly good for headshots! The pop colour will give that 'wow' effect, but it's a solid, so it won't distract attention away from your face (as long as it's in your colour code of course!).

2. Tilt your head.

Don't face the camera straight-on. This will flatten your face and widen your features. Instead, turn your head slightly - all the beautiful angles in your face are highlighted and your face and neck open up.

3. Wear a statement piece of jewellery.

Pop on a statement necklace or statement earrings (like the Park Lane's new Stagecoach necklace or Jada earrings) to give your photo a central focus point and frame your face.

4. Look at celebrity poses.

If you find yourself freezing whenever someone points a lens at you (like me), have a look at how celebrities pose on the red carpet!
If you take the time to analyse their poses, you'll start to spot a pattern. This one is a classic: hand on hip, turned slightly to one side, shoulders squared, head tilted and a beautiful smile!

5. Hold your phone from slightly above.

Look at the difference a slight camera angle change makes! I think this is probably the number one reason people don't like the way they look in selfies: they don't know how to get the right angle. Take some practice shots and experiment with different angles!
