Happy 2020 everyone! How quickly has this year flown by?! I'm so excited about what this year has in store for Redeeming Beauty.

This month over in the community we've been having so much fun!

To kick off the year, we've been focusing on up-leveling our personal style to set us up for a super stylish 2020.

And I thought this month on the blog I'd share five of the many tips and tricks we've been covering in the community so that those of you who've yet to join us can be part of it too.

Here we go...

1. Pick an accessory item and make it your signature.

It might be a bold pair of glasses, a pop lip, or statement earrings.

For example, let's say you love animal print. You could choose to make that your signature element, and wear one animal print item every day, e.g. a pair of animal print shoes, animal print earrings, or an animal print belt.

The key is to not overdo it though! Keep it subtle and classy.

2. In your outfit, include one item that has an interesting detail.

This takes your outfit from bland to striking!

For example, you could keep your whole outfit minimalist and classic, then add a gorgeous statement bag in a bold colour. Or maybe you could wear a top with an interesting detail, or even a bold necklace that draws the eye.

These statement items are called your heroes. Keep it to around 1-3 heroes per outfit for a classic look. Those with more Creative Original style can go for more.

3. Wear something with shine, shimmer or lustre.

Anything that has a shiny texture to it will usually increase the perceived value of your outfit, making you appear more put-together, and sometimes even more expensive!

Look for sheeny fabrics, like silk or satin, or find items with metallic finishes. Sequins also work, though they can look gaudy when styled in the wrong way, so be careful! Handbags with shiny hardware will even have this effect.

4. Define your eyebrows.

Don't forget your brows when applying your makeup every day! This step is one of the most commonly-skipped, but it really does make a difference.

You can use brow powder for a more subtle look, pomade (my favourite!) to really sculpt out your shape, or pencil to draw in little micro-hairs where you need them.

Pencil is the most difficult - you can end up with drawn-on, severe-looking brows. So if you're a beginner, I'd recommend using powder as it gives the most natural finish.

5. Find shoes with a bit of character!

While basic shoes (that match your hair!) are great as they will go with any outfit, find a few pairs to add to your shoe wardrobe that have some character.

These can become the statement piece of your outfit, or your hero as we talked about before, and you can create your outfit around them.

Did you enjoy these tips? This is just the tip of the iceberg - we discuss so many more over in my free online community! Plus we have so much fun. Why not join in? Click here to check it out:
