Celebrities usually look stunning on the red carpet (mostly because they have a team of experts to make sure they look perfect!), but they don't always get it right when it comes to wearing the right colours for their colour codes. So let's have a look at a few celebs from each colour code, and see what happens when they get it right... And when they get it wrong! Are you ready? First up: The Light Colour Code Kate Bosworth has this ethereal look about her, but in the first picture, the black is too heavy, and drags down her whole look. But in the pastel pink, she looks lovely and light. It feels more authentically Kate. You can see a similar effect happening here. The deep maroon is far too heavy for her light colouring. The colour of her dress and lip seems to sit on top of her rather than blending in with her overall look. In the second photo, the colour of her dress and the pop of blue in her earring blend seamlessly with her light colouring, and the colours feel like they belong on her! The same is true for Naomi Watts. The heaviness of the silver and black with the wine-coloured lip are too much for her. In the second photo, she doesn't look fake or overly made up; she looks naturally beautiful. In the maroon dress, she looks a little tired, and her whole look is pulled down. But in the right colour (the lemon yellow), she looks alive! The Deep Colour Code Rose Byrne is a beautiful Australian actress, but in the first picture, her natural beauty is hidden behind a colour more suited to a Light than a Deep. It completely washes her out - she looks exhausted! But in the second picture, the rich red (one of Deep's beautiful pop colours) highlights her gorgeous Deep colouring and she glows! It's like night and day, isn't it? Again, the peachy pink makes Rose appear a little bland and boring, and she seems to almost fade into the background. But the electric blue pops her gorgeous colouring, and she becomes the focus. Sandra Bullock is another beautiful Deep. In the first photo she's wearing colours more suited to the Clear colour code, so they overwhelm her - the colours become the focus, and Sandra fades away. But in the second photo, Deep's pop red harmonises beautifully with Sandra. Doesn't she look stunning? In the blush pink, Sandra washes away and feels completely forgettable. In the black and cream dress, she stands out! The Warm Colour Code Here we see Amy Adams, a beautiful Warm, in two different shades of purple. In the pastel shade, she looks tired and washed out. But in the rich, warm purple, she absolutely stuns! Isn't she beautiful? The pale blue has a similar effect on Amy as the pastel purple above. Even Amy herself doesn't look impressed by the colour! But the beautiful warm red harmonises perfectly with her colouring. The result: breathtaking. Julianne Moore looks a little scary in the first photo! The green is okay, but it's a little cool-toned for this beautiful Warm woman. It makes her skin look extra pale. The yellow, on the other hand, is one of my favourite pop colours for Warms! She looks energetic, youthful and full of life. Grey is not a flattering colour for Warm women. It tends to "grey them out", and you can see it takes all the life out of Julianne. But look how stunning she looks in the beautiful warm burgundy! The Cool Colour Code I really found it difficult to find photos of grey-haired celebrities. They all tend to dye their hair once it turns grey. I found a couple of pictures of Glenn Close wearing her hair au naturale, and you can see that the olive green is doing nothing for her. It turns her yellow! On the other hand, the beautiful navy works well with her Cool colouring. This green isn't bad, but it's not great either. Again, it tends to turn her yellow. But this cool-toned red is gorgeous! Jamie Lee Curtis is another celebrity who's decided to go grey gracefully. Good on her! Her hair is beautiful. However, this creamy white is doing nothing for her. She needs to go for an icy, true white. The grey dress, on the other hand, is stunning! It beautifully mirrors her salt-and-pepper hair, and she glows. Here's an example of a 'wrong' red. Cools should go for a blue-based red, not a warm, tomato-red like this one. It clashes with her cool hair. The beautiful teal, however, is stunning. She looks like an absolute knock-out! The Soft Colour Code Gisele Bundchen is a stunning Soft. Unfortunately, the bright purple overwhelms her and looks completely unnatural on her. In the second picture, she has a much more harmonious look (apart from the bright pink belt). Soft women can wear black the least successfully out of all the colour codes. Here, Gisele actually looks scary! The black completely clashes with her Soft colouring. The grey, on the other hand, harmonises beautifully with her overall look, and she looks gorgeous! Sarah Jessica Parker always seems to wear over-the-top eye makeup that completely overwhelms her Soft colouring. The black is also not helping. Her look, similarly to Gisele's above, makes her look scary! She looks much more youthful and glowing in a softer colour (and softer makeup!), like the light pink on the right. She looks like a different person! See... I'm not making this up! The colours on the left completely overwhelm her. On the right, the colours enhance and highlight her natural beauty instead of covering it up. The Clear Colour Code Lupita Nyong'o is a gorgeous Clear, so she suits brighter colours. The Clear's white is a pure, bright white, not the soft white she's wearing on the left. It makes her look uninteresting. The bright green, however, electrifies her deep skin tone and white teeth, and she looks alive! Again, the pastel purple washes her out and mutes down her Clear colouring. But the saturated blue highlights the brightness of her skin, teeth and the whites of her eyes. Emily Blunt is another stunning Clear. When a Clear wears a soft pastel, it completely washes her out: it takes away the brightness of her colouring (the thing that makes her a Clear) and leaves her looking tired and lifeless. But in a bright colour, she stuns! You can see that the soft orange-and-white combo has the same effect on Emily. But doesn't she look breathtaking in the black, turquoise and fuchsia of the right photo?
