Are you a fan of high heels?
I love the look of them...
But I'm terrible at wearing them for more than five minutes.
That's why, when watching red carpet events, I can't help but wonder how the women in attendance can look so elegant while walking around in sky-high heels all event long.
Recently, on the Cannes red carpet, I was amused to see one celebrity have a 'human' moment. Kristen Stewart was obviously in so much pain from her heels that she removed them mid-carpet. Take a look...
You can see the pain written all over her face.
This behaviour is actually pretty typical of what we call the Pure Natural style personality. Which gave me the idea for this blog post: the best heels for each style personality!
Classic Moderns feel most at home in the classic black heel. They love the elegant look of a heel and don't mind the pain. If you're a Classic Modern and tend to always go for a classic black pair, I'd recommend you branch out and try something a little outside your comfort zone. Why not try a pop of red, or even black and white stripes? You could also look for details that add a little interest, like a simple bow.
If you're a Pure Natural, you'll want to stay as far away from heels as possible. And that's okay. There's good news: kitten heels are back in! It won't be hard to find a small heel that is cute and on-trend. If these are still too much for you, go for a block heel (also currently on-trend) - these are a much more comfortable heel style to wear. If you're wanting to avoid heels altogether, find a pair of formal flats. These are becoming quite popular to wear to formal events, as they match the dress code while being super comfortable - perfect for a Pure Natural!
Creative Originals like being bold and love to wear interesting, creative pieces that stand out in a crowd. If you feel like you could be a Creative Original, don't be shy - let it out! You can be creative through interesting details, or you could even go for something that's creative in its structure. Look for bold colours, bright patterns, and interesting details and embellishments. You may find it difficult to find these styles in a regular store, so keep your eye out in thrift stores, small boutiques or even online. You could even get super creative and add your own DIY embellishments to a pair of plain heels!
Style Fashionistas LOVE heels. They always know - and religiously follow - the current trends, so if you're a Style Fashionista, you probably know the best heels for your style personality more than I do. If you'd like to become a Style Fashionista but aren't sure how to do so, start by brushing up on the trends. Finding a heel in a current, on-trend print (right now, gingham is popular) is a good way to ease yourself into the Style Fashionista personality.
