Patterns are one of my favourite tools in dressing. Did you know that prints and patterns can both minimise and maximise an area? Take the bust line, for example: if you are overly-endowed, wearing a pattern over the bust area will distract the eye and 'minimise' the bust line. If, on the other hand, you have a small bust, wearing a pattern will add visual bulk and 'maximise' the area. Pretty neat, huh? Read on to learn my favourite patterns for the four basic style personalities... The Creative OriginalThe Creative Original style personality is for the woman with a very unique style. She puts things together in unexpected ways, and also tends to enjoy thrift stores and markets to help her fill her wardrobe with one-of-a-kind pieces. To me, the perfect pattern for the Creative Original is the floral print! It has a free-flowing, boho feeling to it, which is perfect for Creative Originals. If this is your style personality, it may be time to invest in some floral pieces (though if you're a Creative Original, I'll bet your wardrobe is already filled with it). The Pure NaturalThe Pure Natural style personality is for the woman who likes to be comfortable. She wears loose, soft pieces in natural fabrics that feel lovely on the skin. She usually doesn't like getting dressed up, and makeup is a chore for her. Plaid is the perfect print for a Pure Natural because it has that relaxed vibe that Pure Natural women radiate. It's actually in style at the moment, so it won't be hard to find in store. Wearing plaid instead of a solid colour will add interest to your outfit without the need for extra accessories - music to the Pure Natural's ears! The Classic ModernThe Classic Modern style personality is for the woman who likes tailored pieces and a more refined, elegant appearance. This woman usually invests in classic items, and uses accessories to modernise them. For the Classic Modern woman, the print I've chosen is the stripe - you can't find a more classic pattern! The stripe print will never go out of style. It can be found in every fashion decade, and it's not going anywhere. If you're a Classic Modern, try adding some stripes to your wardrobe - it will add another level of sophistication and elegance to your look! The Style FashionistaThe Style Fashionista personality is for women who love wearing the latest trends. The Style Fashionista stands out in a crowd, and is known among her friends as being very fashionable. Her friends may even ask her for style advice! If you're a Style Fashionista, your go-to print will change the most often of all the style personalities, because here's my recommendation: whatever's in style! Right now, it's definitely the polka dot. Try dresses, tops, bottoms - even accessories, like handbags and shoes - in the polka dot print. It's a super bold and stylish look that only you can pull off well! What did you think of my recommendations? Do you already have some of these prints in your wardrobe? Let me know in the comments!
