Have you ever wondered why the models in toothpaste ads always wear red lipstick? There's a very simple reason: red lipstick whitens teeth. It has to be a blue-based red (like the one pictured above) - the blue in the red brings out and highlights the blue-white in your teeth. It also brightens the whites of your eyes.
A yellow-based red (like a brick red, orange-red or tomato-red) does the opposite - the yellow in the red tends to bring out the yellow in your teeth. This doesn't just apply to reds. Any lip colour you wear that is blue-based will whiten your teeth - just not to the extent that red will. You could wear a blue-based pink, fuschia, or even berry or plum. This doesn't mean you need to stay away from warm-toned lipsticks. If you are in the warm colour code, these colours will work the best for you and will harmonise with your beautiful warm, golden colouring. When wearing a bold lip, remember to keep the rest of your makeup minimal. This will keep your makeup elegant and chic rather than over the top and dated. Do you often wear red lipstick?
