It's Australia Day!
To celebrate, I thought I'd give you some outfit inspiration. The popular way to celebrate Australia Day is the classic barbecue with friends and family. The weather is usually stinking hot, so it's sometimes a challenge to dress in a way that keeps you cool, yet is still stylish.
Read on to find examples of outfits you can wear that are both stylish and practical, to keep you cool on this hot day!
If you have a Classic Modern style personality, you like simplicity and elegance in your outfits. It's difficult for a Classic Modern to be casual - she's always that little bit more refined than everyone else. I gave her a black and white gingham dress - the print is very classic, and the black and white is modern and elegant. The dress is cotton, so it's breathable and will keep you cool. A classic black wide-brimmed hat is essential for a Classic Modern, and I finished the outfit with simple accessories, a black woven bag and simple black sandals. Now all she needs is a swipe of red lipstick!
For Pure Natural style personalities, it's difficult to dress up (in contrast to the Classic Modern woman). I've given this Pure Natural a light, airy dress to keep her cool, a basic brown floppy hat and simple woven bag. For jewelry, I've kept it simple - most Pure Naturals don't enjoy wearing jewelry, so I've kept them light. To finish, I gave her some brown sandals that are a little more exciting than what she'd normally reach for. This elevates her look and gives her a stylish finish!
Creative Originals love to be creative with their outfits (obviously) so I've given this woman an outfit with texture and a loud colour combination. Her dress is light and breezy so will keep her cool. I've mimicked the tassels in her dress with the pompoms on her woven bag and the tassels in her chandelier-style earrings. The combination of two bright, warm colours gives the outfit energy and excitement. This Creative Original is about to be the life of the party! (Well, barbecue.)
Style Fashionista love the latest trends, so I've included a few in this look. First of all, as always, the dress is light and breezy so will keep her cool on this hot day. It has a beautiful flower print - one of the biggest trends right now is the feminine trend (think ruffles, floaty fabrics, feminine details like bows, and romantic prints). I've also mixed pink with red, which is another trend right now. Tassel earrings and fedora hats are also trending, so I've included these in her look.
What do you think of these looks? Which one would you wear? I hope this has given you some inspiration for your own Australia Day outfit!
